Two young men were killed in Himachal Pradesh when a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus collided with their motorcycle on the Amb-Una road.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the accident occurred late Tuesday night near Krishna Nursery in Katauhar Khurd. The HRTC bus was travelling from Una towards Amb when it struck a motorcycle that was moving in the opposite direction.

The two individuals on the motorcycle sustained severe injuries in the impact. They were promptly transported to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Amb, where medical personnel pronounced them deceased due to the severity of their injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Yogesh Kumar and Aman Bhatia, both residents of Stothar village within the Una district of Himachal Pradesh. Their families have been notified of the tragic incident.

Following the collision, police registered a case against the bus driver, identified as Bachittar Singh. The charges include negligent driving, a serious offence that led to the fatal outcome of the accident.

Authorities have stated that further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is currently underway. Police are working to ascertain all factors that contributed to the incident, including speed, road conditions, and any potential mechanical failures, although initial reports suggest negligence on the part of the driver.

The Amb-Una road is a key arterial route connecting several towns and villages in the region, and such accidents, while not uncommon, highlight persistent concerns regarding road safety, particularly involving inter-state transport corporation buses and two-wheeler vehicles. The terrain in Himachal Pradesh often presents challenges for drivers, with winding roads and varying gradients.

The HRTC is a public sector undertaking responsible for a significant portion of public transportation within Himachal Pradesh. Incidents involving HRTC buses, while investigated thoroughly, often bring scrutiny to the operational safety standards and driver training protocols employed by the corporation. The precise cause of this collision will be determined through the ongoing police investigation.

The community of Stothar village, where the deceased resided, is reported to be in shock following the news. Both victims were young, and their untimely deaths have cast a pall over the local area. The investigation will likely involve statements from witnesses, examination of the vehicles involved, and analysis of traffic data if available, to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the fatal crash.

Police officials indicated that the case will proceed according to the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code concerning fatal accidents caused by negligence. The driver, Bachittar Singh, is cooperating with the investigation, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available. The recovery of the vehicles and the condition of the road at the time of the incident are also crucial aspects being examined by the authorities.
