The SAG-AFTRA National Board has overwhelmingly voted to extend the contract of National Executive Director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland through June 20, 2032. The decision, made during a Saturday meeting, also formally adds the title of Chief Executive Officer to Crabtree-Ireland’s responsibilities.
The extension passed with a significant 98.34% approval from the board, pushing his tenure beyond the current expiration date of June 21, 2028. This move signals confidence in Crabtree-Ireland’s leadership by the union, which represents more than 160,000 actors, broadcasters, journalists, and other media professionals.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the updated title of CEO is intended to better reflect the scope of his role within the organization. Crabtree-Ireland has served as National Executive Director since 2019, taking over from David White. His leadership has navigated the union through significant industry shifts and high-stakes negotiations, including the recent dual strikes that impacted Hollywood.
The SAG-AFTRA National Board’s decision underscores the union’s strategic direction and its commitment to continuity in its executive leadership. The extended contract aims to provide stability as the entertainment industry continues to evolve amidst technological advancements and changing labor landscapes.
