A new financial venture aimed at bolstering film and television collaborations between Taiwan and Japan, named Daily Capital, has officially launched. The fund made its debut on the opening day of the Tokyo International Film Festival market, TIFFCOM, during the “Taiwan Originals: Project Showcase” event.
The Chenab Times has learned that Daily Capital has set an initial fundraising target of NT$100 million, approximately $3.1 million USD. The fund intends to invest in a minimum of five co-production projects spanning film, television, and animation over its first operational phase. This initiative marks a significant step in enhancing the creative and financial ties between the Taiwanese and Japanese entertainment industries, with the goal of producing content that appeals to both regional and international audiences.
The launch event in Tokyo provided a platform for showcasing potential projects and attracting investors interested in the burgeoning co-production landscape. Daily Capital’s strategy is to identify compelling narratives and promising talent from both Taiwan and Japan, facilitating cross-border creative exchanges and leveraging shared production expertise.
Details surrounding the specific types of projects Daily Capital will prioritize were not immediately available, beyond the broad categories of film, television, and animation. However, the fund’s establishment signals a strategic effort to capitalize on the growing demand for diverse, high-quality content and to create a more robust framework for international co-productions within the East Asian market.
