SRINAGAR: Authorities in Anantnag district have taken action against two individuals for dangerous and stunt-driven scooty riding after a video of their activities circulated widely on social media. The incident has prompted traffic police to reiterate warnings against reckless behaviour on public roads.
Traffic Police Trace Riders Following Social Media Footage
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the Anantnag Traffic Police, under the supervision of SSP Traffic Ravinder Pal Singh and led by DySP Traffic Anantnag Muhammad Aslam, identified and apprehended the riders. The operation involved significant efforts to trace the individuals and the vehicles involved in the alleged dangerous driving.
The two scooty riders were identified as Basit Farooq, son of Farooq Ah Mir, and Muhammad Salik, son of Nazir Ahmed Sofi. Both are reported to be residents of Nai Basti Khanabal. Information was available with The Chenab Times that the footage showed the riders operating their vehicles in a manner deemed hazardous to other road users and posing a potential risk of fatal accidents.
Violators Counseled and Penalized
Officials stated that the riders not only violated traffic regulations but also created a public nuisance. Following their identification, the individuals were summoned to the office of DySP Traffic Anantnag. They were counselled by officials regarding the importance of adhering to traffic rules and the severe consequences of reckless driving.
The Chenab Times has learned that both riders were subsequently issued challans under the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. Authorities emphasized that strict enforcement measures will continue against all forms of traffic violations, particularly those that endanger public safety. Citizens have been urged to exercise caution and follow all road safety norms to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of the community.
