SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir administration is committed to fostering balanced and equitable development across both the Jammu and Srinagar cities, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary stated on Friday. He emphasized a focus on enhancing urban infrastructure and improving the quality of life for residents in the region’s major metropolises.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, Choudhary made these remarks while engaging with various public and individual delegations at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu. The interactions provided a platform for citizens to voice their concerns and present their demands directly to the Deputy Chief Minister, highlighting key areas requiring governmental attention.
A delegation led by former Member of Legislative Council Rattan Lal Gupta, accompanied by Tejinder Pal Singh (Aman), met with Choudhary to present a series of issues and proposals specifically related to the development and progress of Jammu city. The discussions reportedly covered a range of civic and developmental concerns crucial for the region’s growth.
In response, the Deputy Chief Minister affirmed the government’s overarching strategy of pursuing holistic and inclusive development that spans all regions of Jammu and Kashmir. He particularly underscored the importance of prioritizing the development of major urban centres, explicitly naming Jammu and Srinagar as focal points for these initiatives. This approach aims to ensure that growth is widespread and benefits diverse communities within the Union Territory.
Choudhary outlined that a multitude of initiatives are presently in motion, designed to address various facets of urban development. These projects encompass city beautification efforts, intended to enhance the aesthetic appeal and public spaces within the cities, as well as the upgradation and creation of essential infrastructure. This includes improvements to road networks and the provision of better civic amenities, all geared towards significantly improving the living conditions for the inhabitants of Jammu and Srinagar.
Further demonstrating the administration’s responsiveness, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the relevant government departments to expedite the process of redressing issues that directly impact the daily lives of people in the Jammu region. This directive aims to ensure that administrative processes are efficient and that public grievances are addressed promptly and effectively.
Beyond the delegation led by Rattan Lal Gupta, several other groups and individuals also seized the opportunity to articulate their concerns. The issues raised spanned a broad spectrum of public welfare matters, including the crucial areas of road and bridge construction, job creation, industrial development, and the provision of essential utilities such as water supply and electricity. These discussions provided a comprehensive overview of the developmental challenges and aspirations within the region.
Assuring the delegations of the government’s commitment, Choudhary pledged that all genuine issues brought to his attention would be formally taken up with the respective government departments.
