Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Friday presided over a comprehensive review of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s (MCD) operations, emphasizing the critical need to enhance service delivery and address long-standing civic issues across the national capital.
The meeting, which included the MCD Commissioner and other senior officials, focused on bolstering the efficiency and accountability of administrative functions, as well as improving enforcement mechanisms across all city zones. A key directive was to ensure administrative practices remained closely aligned with ground realities and public expectations, aiming to bridge any existing gaps in service provision.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the Lieutenant Governor also highlighted the importance of prioritizing the resolution of public grievances submitted through various channels. These platforms include the L-G’s Listening Post, the dedicated MCD-311 mobile application, and issues raised on social media and other public forums, underscoring a commitment to a more responsive governance model.
The review meeting underscored the necessity of timely redressal of civic complaints, with a specific focus on improving responsiveness in essential services such as sanitation, maintenance of public infrastructure, and general public utility services. The Lieutenant Governor reiterated the administration’s commitment to efficiently delivering these vital services within stipulated timelines.
During the deliberations, officials were instructed to maintain close coordination with on-ground conditions and to actively solicit and respond to public feedback. This directive aims to ensure that the MCD’s efforts are directly addressing the needs and concerns of Delhi’s residents, fostering a more citizen-centric approach to urban governance.
The meeting also addressed the ongoing initiatives and progress of various projects undertaken by the MCD. Discussions centered on strengthening the overall service delivery framework, resolving legacy issues that have historically impacted the city’s infrastructure and services, and enhancing the effectiveness of enforcement activities throughout the corporation’s jurisdiction.
