Jammu and Kashmir: Farooq Abdullah Calls for Humble Eid Celebrations Amid Global Strife

SRINAGAR, May 23: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha with humility and in view of the current global tensions, particularly in the Middle East.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that Abdullah made the appeal on Saturday after paying obeisance at the shrine of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani in the Khankah locality of Srinagar. Speaking to reporters after the prayers, the National Conference chief extended greetings for Eid-ul-Azha and emphasized the need for a modest observance of the festival.

Abdullah stated, “I appeal to the people to celebrate Eid with humility keeping in view the prevailing situation in the world. Only God knows what will happen in the coming days. So, pray that war between Iran and the US ends and we live peacefully. Peace is the biggest thing.”

The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, who has served three terms, expressed that his prayers at the shrine were for global peace and for the cessation of what he described as the “poison of hatred” within the country.

“I prayed that there is peace in the entire world and people live with brotherhood. May God stop the poison of hatred spreading across the country so that we move forward living in brotherhood,” he added.
