Delhi Minister Ashish Sood announced on Wednesday that stringent action would be taken against all parties responsible for a fatal fire incident in Malviya Nagar. This includes the owner of the building and any officials found to have been negligent in their duties.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the minister, addressing reporters at the site of the tragedy, stated the building had been entirely consumed by the blaze. Authorities are currently in the process of gathering all pertinent documents to ascertain whether the establishment possessed the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC), operational permits for a hotel and restaurant, and approvals for its Bed and Breakfast (BnB) rooms.
“The owner of this building, and anyone whose negligence led to this tragedy, will be identified through a police investigation and arrested immediately,” the minister stated. He further confirmed that police teams have already been deployed to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
Minister Sood also revealed plans for a comprehensive inspection drive to be conducted in the locality, operating under the direct supervision of the District Magistrate. He indicated that various agencies, including the Municipal Corporation, the Fire Department, the Electricity Department, and the Water Department, have been instructed to inspect buildings for any contraventions of safety and regulatory standards.
The minister emphasized that any building found to be operating in violation of established rules would undergo inspection, and if irregularities are confirmed, the premises would be sealed. “No one will be spared,” Sood asserted, signalling a broader crackdown on unauthorized commercial establishments and structures that flout fire safety regulations, in the wake of the devastating incident.
The fire, which erupted at a hotel functioning as a guest house in Malviya Nagar, resulted in multiple fatalities and has ignited significant concerns regarding the adherence to fire safety and licensing norms in the area. Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause of the blaze and identify any potential lapses in safety protocols.
The incident has underscored the critical need for robust enforcement of building safety codes and fire regulations, particularly for establishments that cater to the public. Officials have indicated that the investigation will be comprehensive, aiming to fix accountability and prevent similar tragedies in the future. The focus remains on identifying systemic failures and ensuring corrective measures are implemented swiftly and effectively across the city.
