Delhi CM Visits Malviya Nagar Fire Victims, Announces Ex-Gratia

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the Max Hospital in Saket on Thursday to assess the condition of individuals injured in a devastating fire incident that occurred in Malviya Nagar. The blaze resulted in multiple fatalities and left several others with injuries, prompting a swift response from the government.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that during her hospital visit, Chief Minister Gupta engaged with the victims and their families, receiving updates on their medical care from attending doctors. She conveyed assurances of comprehensive support from the Delhi government to those affected by the tragedy.

According to the Chief Minister’s office, Ms. Gupta issued directives to officials, emphasizing the need to ensure all necessary assistance is provided to the injured and their families. She also conducted a review of the ongoing medical treatments with the healthcare professionals attending to the patients.

The Delhi government has announced a financial aid package for those impacted by the fire. The statement indicated that the medical expenses for all injured individuals would be coordinated with the hospital management to guarantee that each patient receives appropriate and timely treatment. This includes provisions for intensive care and recovery phases.

Furthermore, the government declared that an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh would be disbursed to the next of kin of each person who succumbed to their injuries in the fire. Individuals who sustained serious injuries will be provided with compensation amounting to Rs 5 lakh, according to the official announcement. The administration is also undertaking arrangements for the repatriation of the bodies of the deceased to their respective hometowns and native places, facilitating the final rites for grieving families.

The fire originated in a building located in Malviya Nagar on Wednesday, igniting a significant rescue operation involving personnel from the fire department, police, and disaster response teams. Authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the precise cause of the blaze. Concurrently, efforts are underway to ascertain whether established safety norms and regulations were adhered to in the building prior to the incident, which is crucial for preventing future occurrences.
