Preliminary reports indicate that the two men had departed from their homes early in the morning with the intention of traveling to Kangra to take an examination. The fatal mishap took place en route to their examination centre.
Following the incident, local residents initiated immediate rescue efforts. A team from the local police also arrived at the accident site to manage the situation and commence an investigation.
Police officials stated that the precise cause of the accident is currently under investigation. Initial findings suggest that the vehicle may have skidded off the road before falling onto the road below, leading to the fatalities. Investigators are examining various potential factors that could have contributed to the crash, including the possibility of speeding, the condition of the road, any mechanical failure in the vehicle, or other circumstances.
A case has been registered by the police, and a formal inquiry has been launched to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the tragedy. The investigation aims to ascertain all contributing factors to prevent similar incidents in the future. The Chamba-Pathankot highway is a critical route, and accidents, though infrequent, can have severe consequences due to its terrain.
The authorities are expected to release further details as the investigation progresses. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the inherent risks associated with road travel, particularly in hilly and mountainous regions where road conditions can be unpredictable and challenging. The journey towards education or other important endeavors can tragically be cut short by unforeseen road accidents.
The recovery of the vehicle and the bodies involved in the mishap was carried out by the rescue teams. Post-mortem examinations are likely to be conducted as part of the official procedure. The local administration has extended condolences to the families of the deceased and has assured them of full cooperation during this difficult time.
