Security forces have detained three individuals in the Shopian district of south Kashmir and recovered a cache of explosives and incriminating materials, including grenades and posters associated with the Hizbul Mujahideen militant group.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the operation was launched by police in the Pudsoo area of Shopian based on specific intelligence inputs. The three detained persons are reportedly residents of Begam village.
During the search operation, authorities recovered two grenades, four posters identifying with the Hizbul Mujahideen, approximately 2.5 kilograms of explosive material, identified as PEK, and four mobile phones from the possession of the detained individuals. The recovered items have been seized by the security forces.
A senior police official confirmed the detentions and seizures, stating that forensic and technical examinations of the recovered materials are currently underway. A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and further investigation is being conducted to ascertain the full details and potential implications of the recovered items and the activities of the detained individuals.
The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir to maintain peace and curb militant activities in the region.
