India is set to host the BRICS National Security Advisers’ (NSA) Meeting on June 22 and 23 in New Delhi, a significant event under India’s current chairship of the bloc. The meeting will convene top security officials from member nations to address pressing global security challenges and foster enhanced cooperation.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the deliberations will be steered by India’s National Security Adviser, Ajit Doval. The central theme for discussion is expected to be “Non-traditional security challenges confronting the world today,” highlighting the evolving landscape of threats.
According to an official statement, the National Security Advisers and heads of delegation from BRICS member states will engage in discussions aimed at exchanging perspectives on the rapidly changing nature of security threats. A key focus will be on examining the multifaceted impact of new and emerging technologies on both national and international security frameworks.
The delegates are also anticipated to delve into the challenges presented by technological advancements, with particular attention paid to their potential for misuse. This includes exploring how such technologies could inadvertently create new security risks and vulnerabilities for nations worldwide.
During the two-day summit, participants will undertake a comprehensive review of the outcomes from the recently concluded BRICS Joint Working Groups. These working groups have focused on crucial areas such as Counter-Terrorism and Security in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
The gathering is poised to serve as a vital platform for strengthening collaborative efforts among BRICS countries on matters pertaining to security. It is expected to facilitate the development of more robust and collective responses to the emerging global threats that transcend traditional boundaries.
The BRICS grouping, which currently includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and its expanded membership, represents a pivotal forum for political, economic, and security cooperation among major emerging economies. Its members collectively represent a significant portion of the world’s population and economic output, making discussions on global security particularly relevant.
