Security forces operating in the border district of Amritsar have successfully intercepted and seized a significant cache of 27 kilograms of heroin. The operation, a joint effort between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Punjab Police, took place in the border belt near Pul Moran, close to the India-Pakistan International Border.
The Chenab Times has learned that the substantial recovery was made following specific intelligence that indicated Pakistani smugglers had utilized drones to drop a large consignment of narcotics in the Gharinda area. Acting swiftly on this information, personnel from the BSF and the Punjab Police initiated a coordinated search operation across the suspected territory.
Intensive Search Operation Yields Major Narcotic Haul
During the meticulously executed search, operatives discovered the substantial quantity of heroin, weighing in at 27 kilograms. This successful interdiction underscores the persistent challenges posed by cross-border smuggling activities aimed at destabilizing the region through the influx of illicit substances.
The recovery comes shortly after security agencies dismantled a significant arms smuggling network in the Ajnala-Ramdas area of Punjab. In a separate operation conducted just days prior, authorities apprehended a suspect and confiscated 25 pistols, an AK-47 assault rifle, 360 rounds of ammunition, 47 magazines, and a bulletproof jacket. These concurrent seizures highlight a multi-pronged threat involving both narcotics and weapons being pushed into Indian territory.
Security agencies have intensified their search operations throughout the border region. The objective is to detect any additional contraband that may have been smuggled and to thoroughly investigate and identify all individuals involved in the sophisticated cross-border smuggling network. The ongoing efforts reflect a commitment to disrupting the flow of illegal goods and safeguarding national security.
The repeated attempts by Pakistan-based entities to infiltrate Punjab with drugs and weapons, particularly through technologically advanced methods like drone drops, continue to pose a significant threat to regional stability. The vigilance and coordinated action of the BSF and Punjab Police are crucial in combating these persistent challenges and ensuring the safety of the border communities.
