Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan has successfully undergone a complex shoulder surgery in Mumbai, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu visiting him post-operation to inquire about his health and wish him a speedy recovery.
The actor-turned-politician’s surgery, performed on his right shoulder on Saturday, July 11, 2026, lasted approximately three and a half hours. The procedure was necessitated by severe rotator cuff injuries and muscle tears, which had reportedly plagued him for years, dating back to 2016. According to a statement from his party, the Jana Sena Party, doctors also identified an avulsion fracture in his right shoulder, adding to the complexity of the surgery.
The surgery was conducted by a medical team led by renowned orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine expert Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. While the immediate surgery was advised earlier, Pawan Kalyan had postponed it to fulfill his official commitments as Deputy Chief Minister.
Doctors opted to operate on one shoulder at a time to manage post-operative recovery and pain. The surgery for his left shoulder is anticipated to take place in approximately two months. The Jana Sena Party confirmed that the procedure on his right shoulder was highly successful and that Pawan Kalyan is currently recovering under close medical supervision.
The injuries are understood to have been exacerbated over the years due to frequent physical contact with enthusiastic crowds during political rallies, public interactions, and election campaigns. Medical evaluations conducted earlier this year, prior to a nasal surgery, revealed the extent of the damage, surprising specialists given his continued demanding public schedule.
Following the successful surgery, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu visited Pawan Kalyan at the Mumbai hospital on Sunday, July 12, 2026. He spoke with Mr. Kalyan, inquired about his health condition, and conveyed his best wishes for a swift recovery. The meeting reportedly lasted for over half an hour, during which they also discussed matters related to state development, government schemes, and the current political landscape.
Pawan Kalyan, who also continues his career in cinema, is expected to focus on his recovery in the coming weeks. The party has assured supporters that he is in a stable condition and will gradually return to his political and professional commitments after completing his rehabilitation program.
