Six individuals sustained injuries following a head-on collision between two vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) near Tunnel No. 5 (T-5) in the Ramsoo area of Ramban district on Friday.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the accident involved an Ertiga car bearing registration number JK04J-7978 and a Tavera (JK02DH-1621) that was traveling in the opposite direction. The incident occurred amidst ongoing vehicular movement on the crucial national highway.
Emergency response teams, including police personnel, members of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and volunteers from the Himalayan Quick Response Team (QRT) Ramsoo, were quickly dispatched to the scene. They were instrumental in the immediate rescue of the injured individuals.
Following the initial rescue and first aid administered at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Ramsoo, all six injured persons were subsequently referred to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal for further medical attention. Hospital sources indicated that the injured individuals suffered blunt trauma injuries but were reported to be in stable condition.
The injured have been identified by the police as Tanvi Sahu, 24, daughter of Vinod Sahu, and Pooja Sahu, 45, wife of Vinod Sahu, both residents of Madhya Pradesh. Also injured were Vinod Sahu, 52, son of Ramadhar Sah, also from Madhya Pradesh, Salahuddin, 39, son of Akhtar Hussain, from Bihar, and Mehtabeen, 25, daughter of Fareed, and Bablu, 42, son of Bajeer, both residents of Uttar Pradesh.
Authorities from the local police have registered a case in connection with the incident. An investigation has been initiated to determine the precise cause of the head-on collision, which has disrupted traffic flow on NH-44.
