The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi has terminated the services of a security guard, identified as Dhananjay Singh, following an accusation of inappropriate behaviour towards a female patient. The premier medical institution also announced punitive action against the private security firm employing the guard and has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) with the police for further legal proceedings.

In a press release issued on Saturday, AIIMS Delhi stated, “AIIMS New Delhi has taken strict action against security guard, Dhananjay Singh, following a complaint of inappropriate behaviour with a female patient. The guard has been terminated from service, a penalty has been levied on the security agency, and a police complaint has been lodged for further legal action.” The institution reiterated its commitment to upholding a secure and respectful environment for all individuals seeking medical care.
The medical institution emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards any form of harassment, particularly against women. “AIIMS New Delhi reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment and misbehaviour against women and remains committed to ensuring a safe and dignified environment for all patients and attendants,” the statement added.
