According to details received by The Chenab Times, the girl’s father, identified as Anees, was sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life. His accomplices, Shadab, Naseem, Saleem, and Shahzade, also received life sentences.

Prosecution officer Devendra Kumar informed that the motive stemmed from a rape case previously registered by a villager named Sakil against Anees and his brother Shadab. Following the issuance of warrants, the accused allegedly attempted to coerce Sakil into withdrawing the complaint.

When Sakil refused to comply, the group allegedly devised a plan to frame him for murder. They allegedly used Anees’ nine-year-old daughter, Anam, as a central figure in their scheme.

The incident, which occurred on December 2, 2022, began when the accused took Anam to an Urs fair. On their return journey, they reportedly administered sleeping pills to the child in a field. Once she became unconscious, Anees allegedly struck her head with a brick before fatally stabbing her with a knife, the prosecution stated.

Following the murder, the girl’s body was hidden among straw. Subsequently, Anees reported to the police station, filing a missing person report for his daughter, Kumar added.

During the course of the police investigation, evidence emerged indicating that the girl was still alive and struggling after the attack. Instead of seeking medical attention for her, Anees allegedly recorded a video of her condition, the prosecution revealed.

Investigators meticulously pieced together the case, relying on forensic reports, witness testimonies, and other critical evidence. Sakil’s name was eventually cleared and he was exonerated as the investigation progressed, leading to the chargesheet being filed against the five convicted individuals.
