Jammu Railway Division Restores Budgam-Katra Passenger Train Service

Jammu, August 29: The Jammu Railway Division of Northern Railway has reinstated the passenger train service connecting Budgam in the Kashmir Valley with Katra, the gateway to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, effective August 29, 2026.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that this significant decision has been taken to enhance passenger convenience and to facilitate devotees traveling to the revered shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. Train numbers 04688 and 04687, operating between Budgam (BDGM) and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK), have been restored on their regular routes.

According to the Public Relations Inspector (PRI) of the Jammu Railway Division, train number 04688 will commence its journey from Budgam at 7:20 AM, reaching Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station by 1:00 PM. The return service, train number 04687, will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 1:45 PM, arriving at Budgam Railway Station by 8:00 PM.

This restoration is anticipated to provide direct benefits to residents of the Kashmir Valley, including students and employees, as well as the numerous pilgrims who visit the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. Officials stated that this service establishes a crucial link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the Jammu region, fostering greater accessibility and connectivity.
