Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir — A man sustained injuries after being mauled by a bear in an orchard located in the Mirmadan area of Dooru in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday. Officials confirmed the incident, which prompted an immediate medical response.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the injured individual, identified as Mohd Maqbool Bhat, a resident of Mirmadan, Dooru, was promptly transported to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Dooru for initial medical attention. Doctors at SDH Dooru, after assessing his condition, referred him to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for further specialized treatment.
The attack occurred in an orchard setting, highlighting the increasing instances of human-wildlife encounters in the region. Local authorities have stated that a probe into the exact circumstances of the bear attack has been initiated to understand the factors leading to the incident and to explore measures to prevent future occurrences.
