Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir – National Conference president Farooq Abdullah stated on Saturday that the popular tourist resort of Pahalgam is exhibiting renewed signs of vibrancy, coinciding with the arrival of visitors for a Rotary International golf tournament.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Abdullah, speaking in the resort town, expressed his satisfaction, saying, “The big thing is that, by the grace of Allah, Pahalgam is shining again.” He noted the presence of participants from Nepal, overseas, Dubai, and various parts of India for the golf event, describing their reception of Pahalgam and its residents as heartening.
“I am happy to see that they are extremely delighted to see how beautiful this area is and how much love the people have for their arrival,” Abdullah remarked.
He underscored the pivotal role of tourism in the economy of Jammu and Kashmir, advocating for enhanced efforts in promoting the sector. “We believe that without tourism, there is nothing in Jammu and Kashmir,” he asserted. “The more we promote it, the more benefit it will bring to our people.”
When questioned about prevailing global tensions and recent incidents in the region, Abdullah conveyed optimism for the swift cessation of ongoing conflicts. He referenced the wars in Ukraine and the tensions involving Iran, America, and Israel, acknowledging their global economic repercussions. “The world today wants this war to stop and for peace to return there,” he commented.
Addressing reports of a drone attack on Makkah, Abdullah highlighted that responsibility had not yet been definitively established. He pointed out that both the Houthis and Iran had denied involvement in the incident. “It is not yet completely clear who did it,” he said. “But someone else is carrying this out.”
Abdullah concluded his remarks by expressing hope for peace, stating, “But I hope, Inshallah, this will end very soon and peace will return to the world.”
