Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live during host Dakota Johnson’s opening monologue, leading to a humorous exchange about their friendship and Swift’s role as a confidante.
Johnson, hosting the sketch comedy show for the third time, used her monologue to joke about her recent highly publicized breakups with musicians. She then introduced Swift as her “literal therapist,” prompting Swift to playfully correct her, stating she is “not your therapist, actually.”
Swift continued the comedic bit by describing Johnson’s habit of visiting her house with wine, oversharing on the couch, and her own brief responses like “Damn, that’s crazy.” The sketch concluded with Swift humorously describing sending Johnson home with Pedialyte and a security escort.
The appearance also included a subtle nod to Swift’s partner, Travis Kelce, when Johnson referenced places associated with her romantic history, including Cleveland. Swift’s enthusiastic “Woo-woo!” in response highlighted the connection to Kelce’s hometown roots.
This marks Swift’s first on-screen appearance on SNL since October 2023, when she introduced musical guest Ice Spice. Swift has a long-standing history with the show, having hosted in 2009, served as musical guest multiple times, and made previous cameos.
The cameo also follows Swift and Johnson’s recent collaboration in the music video for Swift’s song “Patient Zero,” which Swift directed and co-starred in with Johnson.
Swift also reappeared at the end of the episode to present Johnson with a birthday cake, as her birthday was the following day.
