DSW in collaboration with DLSA Bhaderwah Organized Awareness Camp

An awareness  programme cum camp on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan  ’ was organized by  Social Welfare Department in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority Bhaderwah in the premises of Model Secular High School in which large number of students , PLVs , PRIs and local people participated . Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah Rakesh Kumar was chief guest on the occasion whereas  Member Secretary  ( Sub Judge ) DLSA Susheel Singh was guest of honour ,  Subesh Chander Kotwal was organiser , Ghulam Nabi Mughal Principal  Model Secular High School was special guest  and Advocate Mohd Majid Malik was resource person in the  camp . The programme organised by the social welfare department  is a part of the National Campaign of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment across the country to ensure reduction in drug demand and its abuse.

The Ministry has identified 272 districts (most vulnerable to drug abuse) in the whole of the country for the campaign. In case of J&K, the ministry has identified 10 districts and out of the same 4 districts of the Jammu Division are Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri and Poonch. The objectives of the campaign are to increase community participation and sensitization of the people who become vulnerable to drug abuse.

Speaking on the occasion , resource person Advocate Mohd Majid Malik threw light on the NDPS Act 1985  and explain Section 19 , 24 , 27 A  and 37 of the NDPS Act  and informed that under this act manufacturing , sale , purchase , consumption , storage  of  narcotic drugs is prohibited . He said the offence under this act is cognizable non bailable . .Advocate Mohd Majid Maliuk also aware participants about the Right to life , Right to livelihood , Right to health of article 21 of the constitution  and also threw light on Section 41 to 60 of Cr.PC which talks about arrest of a person and said there are two types of arrests . He also explain Section 436 to 439 of the Criminal Procedure Code  which deals with the concept of bail and informed that there are two types of offences which included bailable and non bailable and also threw light on First Information report and Section 154 Cr.PC and 156 ( 3) Cr.PC. Meanwhile  a debate competition was also organised  on the occasion in which many students participated  and refreshment was also distributed among all students along with memeontos and certificates of merit .
