A tragic incident occurred in the Ali Kadal area of Old Srinagar on Saturday, as a gas cylinder caught fire and exploded, claiming the life of a 58-year-old woman and gutting a three-story house. According to official sources, the fire department managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other homes in the congested locality.
The deceased woman has been identified as Nafeesa, who was inside the kitchen when the cylinder caught fire and exploded. Locals reported that Nafeesa had been unwell for some time and was largely bedridden.
The fire quickly spread and engulfed the three-story house, causing significant damage. However, firefighters rushed to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control.
Confirming the incident, a police official stated that a case has been registered and further investigations are underway.
