The highly anticipated Amarnath Yatra is set to commence tomorrow, and amidst stringent security arrangements, the first batch of pilgrims has arrived in Qazigund. Civil and police officials warmly welcomed the pilgrims, marking the beginning of the revered pilgrimage.
The initial group, consisting of 3488 devotees, received a heartfelt reception from Deputy Commissioner of Kulgam, Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Deputy Inspector General of Police south Kashmir, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, Superintendent of Police Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal, and PRI members near Nayvuga tunnel in Qazigund.
Authorities have made elaborate arrangements to accommodate and cater to the needs of the pilgrims. A transit camp has been set up at Walnut factory Qazigund and FCI Mirbazar, with a collective lodging capacity of 5,000 individuals. This will provide a substantial boost to the available lodging facilities along the entire Yatra route.
The Walnut factory in Qazigund has been transformed into a 2400-bedded Yatri Niwas, while FCI Mirbazar boasts an additional 2600 beds. These accommodations will ensure pilgrims have a comfortable stay during their spiritual journey to the holy Amarnath Cave.
The annual Amarnath Yatra, spanning 62 days, is scheduled to commence on July 1 and will continue until August 31. Thousands of devotees from different parts of the country are expected to participate in the Yatra, seeking blessings from Lord Shiva.
The security arrangements for the pilgrimage have been tightened, with multiple layers of protection in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
