Tension gripped the Srinagar-Jammu national highway as family members and relatives of a youth, who met an untimely demise under perplexing circumstances, took to the streets in protest on Tuesday. The demonstrators, in a bid to draw attention to their grievances, blocked the major thoroughfare in the Samba district.
The deceased has been identified as Amit Choudhury, son of Talbinder Singh, a resident of Raipur Camp in Samba. The young man’s sudden and mysterious death has left his family and community in shock and anguish.
The impassioned protesters strategically placed the body of the deceased on the highway, effectively halting traffic flow. Amit Choudhury’s family members assert that he was employed as a labourer on the premises of the dharam-kanda phase – 3rd in Samba. They are demanding an exhaustive and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his demise.
Allegations from the protestors indicate that the youth’s body was forcibly expelled from the location where he had been working. The incident has fueled suspicions of foul play and has triggered an outpouring of grief and anger among the local population.
