The team of District Level Centre for Women (MSK) Doda visited a farflung village of Thanala Bhaderwah.
The team including District Coordinator Humerah Balwan and Sanya Khan in collaboration with Sangheni Saheli an NGO headed by Priyal Bhardwaj distributed sanitary napkins and face mask’s among the rural women and girl especially among those who are totally unaware of the benefits of the use of sanitary napkins and particularly of face masks during this ongoing pandemic.
DLCW Doda is persistently working for poor,needy and underprivileged women especially of ruaral areas by distributing Sanitary Napkins free of cost to increase women health besides to reduce the risk factors attached to menstrual hygiene. This is for the first time in district that an important issue like menstrual and health issues attached to it are being discussed openly.
” It’s time to remove the taboo attached to menstruation and talk about women health and menstrual hygiene because women health matters because their live matters” added by District Coordinator.
They also expressed that people should come forward and raise awareness about the women health and people should develop sensitive behavior towards it.
The rural women of Thanala were oblivion of the concept of Sanitary napkins. The team of Mahila Shakti Kendra demonstrates to them how to use the sanitary napkins and what are consequences of using other unhygienic things during the time of month such as cloths. The unhygienic ways can lead to cervical cancer and infertility of women.The time has changed so has the thinking of the people, District Coordinator added.
