Due to heavy rainfall from last week, the 27km long Jammu and Kashmir highway remained closed for third straight day of Thursday . The heavy rain lashed Ramban district also triggered in Panthial, Mompassi and Marog.
Also on Thursday, Jammu region sees a moderate heavy rainfall. As per the official , Dalwas portion of the national highway is yet to clear because of the incessant rain. The whole national highway of Dalwas washed away by mudslide.
There a continues work for clearing the national highways are in progress with men and machines but due to heavy rain there number of difficulties are being faced.
As per the local from Batote,
“It is raining heavily in Ramban district making it very difficult for the NHAI to undertake restoration work”.
Due to this continues raining, over 2000 vehicles remain stranded in various places at Nagrota, Udhampur, Chenani and Qazigund.
A heavy windstorm could be seen across the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch along with the south of Pir Panjal on Thursday morning.
As per the Poonch SSP Ramesh Kumar Angral,
“After a brief lull, heavy downpour started in the two district early Thursday. All the rivers and rivulet are in a spate. As of now, there are no reports of any untoward incident. People have been advised to stay away from bodies in view of rains.”
