Liquor, cash seized ahead of 4th phase DDC elections 

In order to creak down on distribution of liquor and cash among the voters, the Police in Doda District’s Marmat area seized Liquor from a Tata Sumo vehicle during last intervening night as same is reportedly for the distribution among the voters.

As per the details available with Chenab Times, following which the recovery of the liquor and cash from the vehicle which is reportedly hired by the particular party and is in party use since then, police register an FIR No. 218/20 against the driver who was indentified as Pawan Kumar beside also seized the vehicle which is presently under the custody of Police Post Goha.

Soon after police action, the pics of cash and liquor bottles went viral on social media with a claim that the cash and liquor was meant for diverting voters in the the upcoming DDC Election in Marmat where polling is going to be held on 7 December 2020.

 

The seized vehicle according to the locals was seen in DDC campaign rally for BJP candidate few days ago.

As per the police sources, on the evening of 5 December, a vehicle Tata Sumo bearing Registration No. JK 14F-8708 was carrying one bottle and 26 quarter liqour pouches (250ml) were caught red handed. However, police sources added that there was no cash in the vehicle and the same is rumour.

It is pertinent to mention that the polling for District Development Council Elections Phase-IV in Marmat Constituency is going to be held on Monday. The seizure of liquor and alleged cash raises many eyebrows that fixed the administration to play its part in holding free and fair elections.
