Adv Mohd Majid Malik, who is spearheading the movement to create Bhaderwah district, met Union Minister of State for Tourism and Shipping Shripad Naik here today and submitted a detailed memorandum of demands and also discussed with him the various issues related to Bhaderwah. Adv Mohd Majid Malik demanded that a Gondola (Cable car) should be constructed from Teli Garh to Seoj tourist destination, along with a mall road from Jai Road via Dheraja to the Mounda area of Bhaderwah, and a light and sound system should be installed at the historical fort of Bhaderwah so that tourism activities will be boosted along with employment opportunities.
Malik also demanded that more funds be released to the Bhaderwah Development Authority for the maintenance of existing tourism infrastructure in Bhaderwah, casual labourers of the BDA should be regularised, and mobile network and electricity should be provided to Jai and Padri tourist destinations, along with children’s parks and swimming pools.
He also demanded that, keeping in view the qualifications, Bhaderwah should be declared as the district headquarter and Chinta Bhalra and Athkar should be declared as blocks and tehsils. He also demanded that the Bhaderwah campus be made a full-fledged University of the Chenab Valley and that all colleges should be affiliated with it along with GMC Doda. He said that the establishment of a separate full-fledged university having all the facilities, required staff and equipment for the whole Chenab valley in Bhaderwah is the right and dream of thousands of erstwhile people of Doda district. He also demanded that construction of the KV building at Bhaderwah, the Army Good Will School at Bhalla, along with establishing a high court bench in Bhaderwah, keeping in view the tradition, culture, and merit of the area, and Jai Bhaderwah road should be blacktopped. Adv Mohd Majid Malik also demanded tourism infrastructure at Chawari, Lodu Kansar, Drai, Sarola, and Kota top, Rajpura, Bargi, Raila, and Dalmera.
He also informed the Union Minister of State about the historical background and importance of Bhaderwah and said in 1954, the degree college Bhaderwah was established and presently at the Bhaderwah campus there are 400 kanals of land available along with infrastructure, and 200 kanals of land has been notified for the campus. He also raised the issue of the creation of more municipal wards in Bhaderwah and demanded the immediate official opening of Bhaderwah Chamba and Bhaderwah Bani roads for the creation of employment opportunities in Bhaderwah. He also demanded employment for locals of Bhaderwah and Doda in the Khellani tunnel.
The Union State Minister listened to Malik patiently and assured that all demands will be considered along with District to Bhaderwah and tourism infrastructure.
