According to a personnel ministry order issued on Tuesday, former bureaucrat Amit Khare, who retired as higher education secretary last month, has been appointed as a two-year contract adviser to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mr Khare, a Jharkhand cadre IAS officer from the 1985 batch, retired on September 30.
The Cabinet Appointments Committee has accepted Mr Khare’s appointment as adviser to the prime minister on a contract basis, initially for a period of two years, according to the statement.
