Civilian shot dead near Babapora camp, came under crossfire says police

A civilian was killed in a brief shootout between militants and the CRPF in the Babapora region of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday, according to police.

According to news agency GNS, a CRPF party of 178 BN was out for area dominance in Babapora when militants opened fire on them. The CRPF retaliated and one civilian was killed in the crossfire.

The officer further said that Credential being ascertained.

Meanwhile, Shahid Ahmad, son of Ajaz, a native of Anantnag, has been identified as the civilian.

Senior Journalist Shuja ul Haq tweeted, “A civilian reportedly a milkman shot dead in Shopian this morning. Attack, cross fire, fired upon? Conflicting reports so far. Police says it is investigating. But that is what Kashmir’s story is and has been for decades.”
