Civil Society Bhaderwah call on Vikramaditya, listed various demands

A delegation of civil society members from Bhaderwah called on former MLC Vikramaditya Singh here today and used this opportunity to place before him demands and issues being confronted by the community in this hilly town.  

It is pertinent to mention that former MLC is currently on a tour of Bhaderwah and Kishtwar areas to have firsthand knowledge of problems and issues being faced by the people especially during the harsh winter months. 

The prominent people held a detailed interaction with Vikramaditya Singh on various issues of public interest. While appreciating the gesture of the former legislator for coming to this far off hamlet to know about their demands and grievances, they said that the specially-abled population of the area is suffering as the government is not providing any kind of pension to them. They demanded pension for the differently-abled persons living in the vicinity should be enhanced. Another significant issue discussed in the meeting was of Village Defence Committees. 

The civil society demanded that the time has come to strengthen VDCs as the same play a vital role in fortifying security edifice and can be of great help to government in ensuring long lasting peace in the region. It was also highlighted that the remuneration of the VDCs should be at par with their counterparts in other regions and the same be released on monthly basis as the inflation is touching skies. Besides, the civil society members also laid stress on the preservation of cultural heritage which is important to educate progeny about their rich cultural legacy and astounding past. 

After listening to the issues and demands of the visiting delegation, Vikramaditya Singh asserted that this was sole purpose of his visit to Bhaderwah to have firsthand knowledge of the aspirations and issues of the people to chalk-out a strategy to mitigate the problems and fulfill the demands in the shortest possible time.

The former MLC observed that the Bhaderwah and Kishtwar areas have huge potential of tourism and these should be developed on modern lines by creating adequate facilities for the visiting tourists. He said that there is huge potential of trout farming in the area which needs to be encouraged. He asserted that Government should enable investors friendly environment by promoting private sector in the area in both the fields of trout farming and other areas having regional potential.

Vikramaditya assured the civil society members that he will pursue their demands to ensure that the same will be realized sooner than later and will leave no stone unturned to mitigate the problems being confronted by the people.
