Asif Iqbal Butt, a social activist from the Kahara area of Sub-division Thathri, submitted representation to the Office of Deputy Commissioner Doda regarding the opening of a public library in Kahara and also free winter community classes in the area.
In his representation, he stated that the majority of the population of Kahara is economically and educationally backward, the standard of education is poor, and the student community is facing difficulties arranging books by different authors and publishers to prepare for competitive examinations. He requested to open a public library at Kahara so that the students would benefit from the public library as the books, magazines, and newspapers they need would be available there at no cost.
Besides this, he apprised DC Doda that due to the COVID-19 Pandemic most of the students couldn’t take the benefit of online or offline classes for one or the other reason. In this regard, he requested DC Doda to take up the matter with CEO Doda to start community classes at a suitable place in the Kahara area utilising the services of teachers, especially for the students appearing for board examinations, so that the poor students may not suffer as compared to those who have the resources to hire quality tutors or to shift to major cities/town for the education of their kids.
