Various grievances raised during SSP Doda’s visit in Kahara

SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom, paid a visit to Kahara (Gandoh) on Sunday and held a public meeting with respectables / elderly people of Kahara area to listen to their grievances and issues. BDC Chairman Kahara Fatima Begum, Sarpanch Panchayat Kahara Jaffar Hussain, Chairman Beopar Mandal Kahara Showkat Ali, and other notable citizens/ex-Sarpanches/Members Panchayat of the area were present during the meeting. SDPO Gandoh Shahzada Kabir Matoo, SHO Gandoh Insp Vikram Singh, and Incharge police Kahara Parvez Ali were also present at the meeting.

The role and efforts of the police in conducting public outreach programmes to listen to the problems and issues of the general public were highly praised by the participants.

They demanded that police perform similar public outreach programmes on a regular basis in order to listen to the public’s complaints.

The participants highlighted a number of concerns and issues in the area, including the installation of electric transformers/poles in the Kahara area, compensation for families whose homes were damaged by the recent heavy snowfall, and appropriate drinking water/power supply for the locals. Ambulance service 108 arrangements, as well as the establishment of a fire and emergency service station in Kahara, J&K police shall support crash courses for students in classes 9-12. Taxi fares must be set in order to prevent drivers from overcharging passengers. Upgrading the Kahara Police Post to the status of a Police Station, taking into account the qualifications and merits of the area, and establishing a receiving station in Kahara, Construction of Bus stand and organising of Youth awareness programme by police regarding drug abuse.

SSP Doda assured the participants that their police-related matters would be resolved in the quickest time feasible, while civil-related issues would be brought up with the appropriate forum for resolution.

The attendees were encouraged and advised to cooperate with authorities and provide aid so that social crime may be removed from society. They were also given instructions on how to raise awareness among the general public about the importance of adopting COVID-appropriate behaviour and strictly following the standing guidelines. In the end the participants were thanked for participating in the meeting.
