Queuing is one of our least favourite pastimes. It’s a difficult task that will take a long time to complete. But what if I told you it could be profitable? Yes, I’m merely forming a line!

One man has made a career out of it, believe it or not. Freddie Beckitt, a professional queuer, makes his money by standing in line for wealthy people who don’t want to – and he makes a lot of money doing so.

Beckitt normally charges £20 an hour to wait in line for others, and he claims that it comes naturally to him because he is from London, and that he has “down to a fine art” queueing.

The 31-year-old can earn up to £160 (Rs 16,000) per day on a good day, according to The Sun, and has been doing it for the last three years alongside his career as a historical fiction writer.

He claims that the best jobs are queuing for tickets to highly popular events for customers who are wealthy but short on time.

Beckitt told The Sun, “I worked eight hours for a job queuing for the V&A’s Christian Dior exhibition for some very well-to-do people in their mid-sixties.”

“The actual queuing was only three hours,” he explained, “but they asked me to collect their tickets as well and wait for them to arrive, so I just had hours perusing the V&A museum for £20 an hour, which was fantastic.”

He claims that his clients range from busy young families to older pensioners, and that he has had to wait in the freezing cold in the dead of winter on occasion, but that the summer is his busiest season because of big events and exhibitions.

Pet sitting, packing, errands, and gardening are among the services offered by Freddie Beckitt on TaskRabbit. He’s also happy to be paid to take care of pets, pack, assist with house moves, run errands, and do some gardening.
