In a shocking incident in Mughalmaidan area of Kishtwar District, the students were handed over a school leaving certificate after their parents raise the objection during Teachers/Parents meet about the quality of the education in the government run school.
As per the details available with Chenab Times, Government Middle School Mughalmaidan ask the parents to take their children back following which they left with no other option other than to get the seven children out of the school and was forced to get them admitted in a private school at Kishtwar- some 30 KM from the home.
Speaking to Chenab Times, Ali Mohammad Naik said that they were surprised at the reaction of the teachers posted in the area after they question the standard of education in the school.
“SDM Chatroo, Tehsildar Mughalmaidan among several senior officials attended the parents/teacher meeting- Senior officials chose the subject of a madam who is posted in the same school since last 16 year- 7th class student fail to even write the name of the said female teacher” said victim school children father Ali Mohammad Naik whose 4 children studying in the school were expelled by the school management.
Naik said that after a 7th class girl fail to write simply the name of a teacher, they intervened and brought the matter regarding the standard of the education in the school and urged the senior officials to direct the concern teachers to raise the standard of the education in school that irritates the school management as a result of which the school management expelled my 4 children as well as 3 children’s of my brother.
“They (School Management) started harassing and taunting my children- later I was handed over the school leaving certificate” said Naik added that irony is that the ZEO even put his signature on the school leaving certificate of my children without applying his mind that their is already advance session and without thinking that where my children will go.
He said that in school their was blackboard, but no chalks in the school.
He demanded stern action against the Headmaster of the school and other staff of the school involved in harassment of his and his brother children.
Local Sarpanch Shabir Ahmed Lone told the The Chenab Times that he had taken strong note of the harassment and expelling of children from school added that he had taken up the matter with senior officials and hope that action will be initiated against the guilty officials.
“These incidents has no space in the society and we cannot tolerate these types of high handedness of school management” said Lone.
After public outburst, the management of the school is on back foot and sending feelers to the victim family for compromise and are willing to apologise, but the victim and his family refuse to budge and called upon the LG administration for an action against the guilty school management.
Meanwhile the school management tried to put who blame on the teacher who is said to be an incharge of certificate section who is said to have acted only at the instruction of the headmaster. After massive public outcry, ZEO Inderwal issued order withdrawing the school leaving certificates issued from the school.
In another incident reported from Lohidar area of Mughalmaidan wherein a father was attacked by the headmaster of the school after he repeatedly pointed out the mistake in class work of his child.
“I repeatedly write note to school teacher urging him that look at the mistakes done by his child- but they paid no head to his repeated pleas that his son is being taught wrongly- He today went to school where concern headmaster abuse him and attacked him and asked him to take his child back to home” said Naseer Ahmed of Lohidar. He said that he simply requested to the teachers and headmaster of the school that after he check the class work of his child, he found it full of mistakes that infuriated the headmaster and other teaching staff of the school who pounder on him (Naseer) for questioning them.
After Naseer tried to capture the video, the headmaster could be seen snatching his mobile phone beside pushed him.
Naseer told the Chenab Times that the people living in the area are poor and cannot effort private school for their children and demanded action against the headmaster and other staff members who fail to provide quality education to the poor children. He said that headmaster has refuse to take his child in the school following the incident.
Despite repeated attempts, senior officials of the education department could not be reach out for the comment.
