18 educational institutes in J&K renamed after martyrs & eminent personalities, according to GAD order.
As part of the ongoing “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations, the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Council (AC), which convened under the chairmanship of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on July 22, approved naming schools, roads, and buildings after martyrs and prominent figures.
“As a mark of respect and acknowledgement of the exceptional contributions towards the security and development of the Union territory, the identified institutions will be renamed after the martyrs and living legends from Jammu and Kashmir,” an official statement said when the government approved the renaming.
The following names of eminent personalities according to government order — a copy of which lies with The Chenab Times, has been announced as the names for schools including Late Sh. Sarwanand Kaul Premi for “Government Higher Secondary School Soaf Shall, Anantnag”, Martyr Sh.Reyaz Ahmad Lone for “Govt. Boys Middle School, Wanpora, Gurez”, Martyr Rfn. Mohammad Safeer Khan for “GMS Chandanwari”, Martyr Para Trooper Shabir Ahmad Malik for “GMS Dab”, Martyr Rfn. Abdul Hameed Chara for “BMS Kupwara”, Martyr HC Abdul Rashid Kalas for “UPS Kundlayan”, Martyr Sgct. Ghulam Mustafa Barah for “GMS Banday Mohalla, Handwara”, Martyr HC Sheraz Ahmad for “UPS Kashmiri Manigah”, Martyr Const. Rajinder Kumar for “Govt. Middle School (Boys) Garhi”, Martyr Const. Raj Kumar for “Govt. Boys Middle School, Jaganoo”, Martyr Ct Naseeb Singh No. 626/AP 5th Bn. for “Govt. Girls Middle School, Muthlal, Alanbass”, Martyr SPO lalal Din No. 216/Rsi for “Govt. Middle School Bagga (Jamslan)”, Martyr Ct. Shamim Ahmed Belt No. 2847/J for “MS Butt Pura Dool”, Martyr HC. Raghu Nath No.09/D for “MS Sounder”, Martyr Sep. Joginder Singh 20 Sikh Regiment 16 RR for “Middle School, Chatyari, Panchayat Loorkote”, Martyr Havaldar Sartool Singh for “PS Patti”, Martyr Ct. Raj Kumar No. 215/GRP for “Govt. Girls Middle School Kheri”, Martyr Ct. Jagdev Singh No. 277/R for “Govt. Primary School, Dab Ditta”. These schools were renamed today, as per GAD order.
