A vaccination drive of stray cattle against Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) was started today by the Animal Husbandry Department Doda under the supervision of Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Doda, Dr. Mayan ud Din Gures and Livestock Development Officer Bhaderwah Dr. Aijaz Hussain Patigaroo, in collaboration with the staff of Municipal Committee Doda and Bhaderwah.
Two teams were constituted for the drive in Doda and one in Bhaderwah. Dr. Imran Magray, VAS DVH Doda, Dr. Suhail Lone, CP Doda lead the teams in and around the municipal area of Doda while Dr. Mohd. Akram Malik, VAS lead the team in Bhaderwah.
Around 42 stray cattle in Doda and 22 cattle in Bhaderwah found roaming in the municipal area were vaccinated against the LSD.
The general public was also made aware about the disease and its preventive measures. Special stress was given to control the flies and mosquitoes that act as vector and main cause of the disease spread. Also general public was appealed not to let their animals outside as they can catch the disease and be the reason for its spread in the municipality.
