BJP state executive body member and VDC cell convenor Basant Raj Thakur met with BJP national General Secretary Org B.L. Santhosh and Seh-Parbhari J&K Ashish Sood at the BJP headquarters in Delhi to discuss the recent situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Thakur emphasized the need to strengthen the Village Defence Guard (VDG), formerly known as the Village Defence Committee (VDC), and called for the creation of new VDG committees in border districts such as Poonch, Rajouri, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Ramban, Doda, and Kishtwar, sources told The Chenab Times.

The meeting took place the day after a terror attack in Rajouri, which claimed the lives of six people, including two minors, according to The Chenab Times report. Thakur expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and vowed to continue the fight against terrorism.
Thakur also raised the concerns about the targetted killings in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting concluded with the three leaders agreeing to work together to ensure the safety and security of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the sources added.
