DM Doda orders “mandatory installation of CCTV cameras in shops and establishments” across district within 15 days

District Magistrate Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, has issued an order under Section 144 Cr.PC, mandating the installation of CCTV cameras at all shops, establishments, and other public places in the district. According to the order, a copy which lies with The Chenab Times, all owners of establishments, including shops, dhabas, restaurants, hotels, garages, and scrap dealers located on the National Highway, in and around the main markets in towns, and other important roads within the jurisdiction of District Doda, have been directed to install CCTV cameras in their respective shops/establishments within a period of 15 days.

The order states that as the notice cannot be served individually to all the parties, the order is passed ex parte. Any person found to be in contravention of this order shall be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda, has been tasked with ensuring the implementation of this order in letter and spirit.

The installation of CCTV cameras in public places is seen as a measure to enhance security and safety in the district.
