Kwatra in B’desh, calls on Hasina

Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra met with his Bangladesh counterpart, Masud Bin Momen, for foreign office consultations where both sides reviewed their bilateral partnership. During the meeting, they discussed multilateral engagements, bilateral development projects, defense cooperation, and security issues. They also agreed to support each other’s non-permanent membership at the UN Security Council.

In addition, Mr. Kwatra also called on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka where he conveyed warm wishes from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He reiterated the continued commitment of India to its bilateral relationship with Bangladesh, upholding the country as the pivot of India’s ‘Neighbourhood First Policy’ and a key partner of its ‘Act East Policy’.

The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement, highlighting the importance of the visit in strengthening the ties between the two countries. The statement said, “The visit of Foreign Secretary to Bangladesh is reflective of the priority that the Government of India attaches to Bangladesh as a close friend and neighbour.”
