Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has urged government departments to fully utilize drone technology to enhance the services they provide. Drones can be used for a variety of purposes, such as monitoring wildlife and forests, traffic management, delivering payloads, and surveilling illegal mining.
The CM stated that the use of drones will be critical in the health and other sectors, and they can be used to spread micronutrients in agriculture. He emphasized the importance of adopting modern technology for rapid growth and efficiency in all sectors.
Additionally, the CM directed transport authorities to organize meetings with electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers to discuss the details of building charging infrastructure and replacing the fleet of existing buses with electric ones. Sukhu reiterated his commitment to replace the entire fleet of HRTC buses with electric buses in a phased manner, citing the success of electric buses on local routes. By 2025, he stated that the HRTC would have e-buses in its entire fleet in the state.
Sukhu also praised the Transport Department for replacing its official vehicle fleet with electric vehicles and declared that all government departments will soon have e-vehicles. The CM’s goal is to improve services to the people of the state with the aid of modern technology.
