People urged to share info on firing incident

An inquiry officer appointed by the district magistrate to investigate the killing of two civilians near an Army camp in Rajouri has issued a public notice seeking information about the incident from the general public.

According to the notice issued by Additional District Magistrate Sachin Dev Singh, he was appointed as the inquiry officer by the district magistrate on December 16 last year to ascertain the cause of firing at Phalyana village, which led to the killing of Surinder Kumar and Kamal Kumar, both residents of Phalyana, and injury to Anil Kumar, a resident of Uttarakhand, who is presently residing at Alpha Gate Rajouri near the Army establishment in Phalyana.

In the notice, Sachin Dev Singh has requested the public, media persons, or anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward and share any relevant inputs that they may have within a week. He has also mentioned that the inputs can be shared telephonically or through WhatsApp on 9596510500.

The notice comes almost three months after the incident occurred, and the investigation has not yet been able to determine the cause of the firing that led to the killing of the two civilians and injuring one. The local community has been demanding a fair and transparent investigation into the incident.
