In a tragic incident, a Bank Security Guard was shot dead by unknown gunmen in the Achan area of Litter hamlet in Pulwama district on Friday. According to an official, the militants fired upon the security guard, causing him injuries.
The victim, identified as Sanjay Pandith, son of Kashi Nath Pandit of Achan, was rushed to the district hospital in Pulwama for immediate medical attention. However, he was declared dead by the medical superintendent, Dr Tula.
Following the incident, the area has been cordoned off by the security forces to track down the attackers.
