District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu concluded the block-wise Jai Bharat Satyagraha with a concluding Satyagraha protest program held in Block 2 and 3 of the Jammu West Constituency, at Mahesh Pura Chowk near GMC Jammu on Friday.
Led by former minister Raman Bhalla (working president PCC) and Yogesh Sawhney, general Secretary and I/C District president of Jammu (Urban), the DCC Jammu participated in the Jai Bharat Satyagraha program organized by the Congress party to create awareness about the BJP’s policies, and raise slogans against the government.
Addressing the gathering, Bhalla attacked the BJP government over the recent comments made by former Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Satya Pal Malik, on the Pulwama attack. He slammed the Union Government and Central agencies for not investigating the truth behind Malik’s allegations and called for an inquiry into the matter.
“If the martyrdom of 40 brave souls was because of the mistake of the Government causing this huge security lapse, then BJP govt must answer to people,” Bhalla stated.
Yogesh Sawhney echoed Bhalla’s thoughts and went on to say that the nation is shocked to hear Satyapal Malik’s statement on Pulwama. “If precious lives were lost due to security lapses from the government’s end, this is a huge betrayal to the country’s jawans who keep their lives on the line,” Sawhney asserted.
Senior leaders, including Rajnish Sharma, Vijay Sharma, Rajinder Singh Councillor, Raj Bakshi, Narinder Gupta, Dr Ramakant Khajuria, Pawan Dev Singh, Varinder Manhas, Sat pal Spolia, Atul Sharma, Chandershekhar Sharma, Balbir Kumar, Vijay Malhotra, Tamanna, Anita Sharma, and others also participated in the Satyagraha program.
The Congress party activists demanded an official inquiry into the matter, with Bhalla terming the whole incident “outrageous and unforgivable.”
“If the comments of the former Governor are correct, it is very disturbing, hence, we demand an official inquiry,” Sawhney said.
The protest program concluded with party activists raising slogans against the government and its policies.
