Mysterious Blast in Kishtwar Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

One person was killed and his brother was injured in a mysterious blast that occurred in the kitchen of their house in Sumbhol, a far-flung village of Chattroo tehsil in Kishtwar district, according to officials.

The blast reportedly occurred when the brothers were heating up an abandoned rusted object they had found in the jungle while collecting Morchella (Guchhi), a type of mushroom. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Abass Naik.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blast, which is being treated as suspicious. Meanwhile, the injured brother has been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, as per The Chenab Times sources.

Speaking to the The Chenab Times, the SSP Kishtwar said, “Initial reports suggest that a suspicious blast occurred in the kitchen of Mohammad Abass Naik’s house. We are investigating the matter and trying to unravel the truth behind this tragic incident.”
