In a major breakthrough, the Doda Police successfully conducted a special operation targeting bovine smugglers, resulting in the rescue of 18 bovine animals and the apprehension of five individuals involved in the illicit trade, according to a statement issued to The Chenab Times. The operation was carried out by dedicated police teams from the Bhaderwah Police Station, who acted swiftly and decisively to combat this rampant criminal activity.
Following their commendable efforts, two separate First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered at the PS Bhaderwah under the registration numbers 56/2023 and 57/2023. The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the cases, aiming to bring the perpetrators to justice and dismantle the smuggling networks that have been operating in the region.
This recent success highlights the ongoing commitment of the Doda Police to combat bovine smuggling, a crime that has plagued the area for some time. In the current year alone, the police have registered seven FIRs against 11 bovine smugglers, resulting in the rescue of 27 bovine animals and the seizure of two vehicles directly linked to the illegal trade, official sources told The Chenab Times. These concerted efforts demonstrate the police’s determination to protect the rights of innocent animals and maintain the rule of law.
Bovine smuggling, which involves the illegal transportation of cattle and other bovine animals, poses a significant threat to the region’s economy and social fabric. The smugglers exploit vulnerable animals, often subjecting them to inhumane conditions during transportation. Furthermore, this illicit trade adversely affects the livelihoods of legitimate cattle owners and disrupts the overall agricultural and dairy sectors.
Acknowledging the detrimental impact of bovine smuggling, the Doda Police have taken a proactive stance in combating this criminal activity. They have intensified their operations, employing modern techniques and intelligence-driven strategies to apprehend the culprits. Additionally, the police have been collaborating with local communities, encouraging them to report any suspicious activities related to bovine smuggling.
The successful rescue of 18 bovine animals and the subsequent arrest of five smugglers serve as a stern warning to those involved in such unlawful practices. The Doda Police are determined to put an end to bovine smuggling, safeguarding the welfare of innocent animals and preserving the peace and prosperity of the region.
As the investigation into the recent cases progresses, the Doda Police urge the public to remain vigilant and report any information related to bovine smuggling to the authorities. Together, they can build a stronger defense against this nefarious trade and ensure a secure environment for all residents of Doda.
