In a collaborative effort to combat the rampant issue of illegal mining in Doda district, District Mineral Officer (DMO) Sunil Manhas and Station House Officer (SHO) Amit Katoch of Thathri successfully conducted a large-scale operation, resulting in the seizure of five heavy vehicles involved in the transportation of illegal minerals. Under the direction of District Magistrate Vishesh Mahajan, the joint operation showcased the administration’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the mining industry and cracking down on unlawful activities.
Acting on valuable information regarding the presence of mineral smugglers engaged in illegal mining activities, DMO Doda and his team established a checkpoint between Bhalla and Thathri areas. The operation, conducted with utmost precision, culminated in the confiscation of the aforementioned vehicles, effectively disrupting the illicit activities of the mineral smugglers.
During the operation, DMO Doda took the opportunity to caution the drivers of the seized vehicles about the severe consequences they could face under the laws of the Minerals Act if they continued engaging in illegal mining. This stern warning serves as a reminder that the administration will not tolerate any further attempts to exploit the district’s mineral resources unlawfully.
