In a significant operation, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Doda Police carried out a series of raids at multiple locations in the Gandoh area of District Doda. The raids were conducted in connection with a case registered at Police Station Gandoh under FIR No. 06/2021 U/S 121/121-A/122 IPC, 13/18/20 ULA (P) Act.
Providing details of the operation, SSP Doda, Shri Abdul Qayoom-JKPS, stated that the primary objective of the raids was to apprehend local terrorists who had exfiltrated to Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) in the early nineties. The targeted individuals included Atta Mohd @ Adil Mubassir, son of Gh Nabi and resident of Tanta Kahara; Mohd Yasir @ Shahid, son of Ghulam Mohd and resident of Kunthal Tanta; Mohd Shafi @ Nadeem Bhai, son of Ghulam Mohd and resident of Trinkal Tehsil Kahara; Amjid Ali @ Rashid, son of Abdul Gani and resident of Trinkal Kahara; and Majid Hussain @ Abu Zahid Saqib, son of Mangta Bhat and resident of Manoie Tehsil Chilli Pingal Gandoh.
These local militants, presently operating from Pakistan, have been making desperate attempts to revive militancy in District Doda. Through various virtual modes, they have been contacting local youth, aiming to instigate them to join their ranks and embrace militancy.
During the well-coordinated raids, the SIU Doda meticulously searched the houses of the aforementioned individuals. The operation yielded vital evidence and clues, which are now being incorporated into the ongoing investigation. The collected evidence is expected to play a crucial role in identifying and apprehending the supporters and sympathizers of the terrorists. These individuals, known as Over-Ground Workers (OGWs), assist terrorist organizations by providing logistical support and aiding in their nefarious activities.
