Kupwara District Magistrate, Dr Doifode Saggar Dattatray, has requested the local Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to file a First Information Report (FIR) against a private clinic in Kupwara following allegations of medical negligence. The alleged negligence resulted in the unfortunate deaths of two patients.
According to a communication from the District Magistrate’s office to the concerned SSP, the clinic under scrutiny is identified as ‘ESS BEE’ clinic. The document mentions that two individuals, Mudasir Rashid Sofi, son of Abdul Rashid Sofi from Potushahi, Lolab, and Tahira Begum, wife of Qaiser Ahmad Wani from Tikipora Lolab, reportedly lost their lives due to medical negligence at the mentioned clinic.
The communication further urges the SSP to initiate an FIR and conduct a preliminary inquiry into the aforementioned incidents. It should be noted that an ongoing investigation into the matter was previously ordered by the District Magistrate’s office under the reference number DCK/2023/209/977-80, dated May 16, 2023.
As the investigation progresses, the authorities aim to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the two individuals and determine whether medical negligence played a role. The decision to seek an FIR against the private clinic indicates the seriousness with which the allegations are being treated and emphasizes the need for a thorough and impartial inquiry.
